Paul Anthony Vanek

Prior to launching Vanek Consultancy, Mr. Vanek was the Director of Practices for 2 consulting areas (Financial Management & Reporting, and Enterprise Governance & Compliance) of a national consulting and search firm for the Houston office; the President of a start-up art-based products company with full e-commerce capabilities; a Solutions Manager responsible for the complete management of the Advisory and Staffing Practices of two recruiting and temporary staffing firms; the Controller for a group of companies that provided management consulting, investment banking and information technology services; and was a manager with a Big 5 public accounting firm.
Mr. Vanek has been a speaker for a number of professional organizations including the Houston CPA Society. He has developed and conducted numerous training courses in the United States and Europe in both business and academic settings. He is also a published author of articles on ERM and IFRS.
Mr. Vanek graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration; a member of the Corps of Cadets (1980-1984), while attaining the rank of Battalion Commander; and was a Group 2 Fellow with the Texas A&M University College of Business Administration Fellows Program (1984-1985).
Mr. Vanek is a CPA licensed in the state of Texas and also holds the CIA, CISA, CGMA, CRMA, CFE and CICA designations. He is an active member of the Houston CPA Society and the Houston TSPCA Foundation as the Chair of the CPAs Helping Schools Committee; Chair of the Large Company Initiative Task Force; and a member of the Membership Development Committee, the IT Committee, the Annual Golf Classic Committee and the Scholarship Extravagana Committee. Mr. Vanek is also the former Vice-President (2013-2014); Treasurer (2012-2013); former Treasurer-Elect (2011-2012); Coordinating Director (2010-2011); a former member of numerous Task Forces and former Committee Leadership, including, the Finance, Young CPA, and Lease II task forces; former Chair of the Investment, Finance and Strategic Planning Committees; former Coordinating Director of the Membership Development Committee; and former Chair of the Houston CPA Society's Annual Fall Charity Event, the Annual Golf Classic, benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana.
Mr. Vanek has received several awards from the Houston CPA Society. He received a Presidential Citation for his work on the Finance Committee in 2012. Mr. Vanek has also received the 2010-2011 Outstanding CPA of the Year Award; and the 2009-2010 Most Organized CPA Award.
Mr. Vanek is also an active member with other professional societies. On the local level, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Houston ISACA Chapter and currently serves as the Chair of the Audit and By-laws Committees. Additionally, Mr. Vanek is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Houston Chapter of the IIA and currently serves on the Chapter Governance Task Force and is an Adviser to the Finance Committee. On the state level, Mr. Vanek is a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Society of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs CPE Foundation, the TSCPA Peer Assistance Foundation, and a voting member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants Accountancy Museum of Texas and the Accounting Education Foundation of the TSCPA.
Besides serving with those professional societies, Mr. Vanek is also a member of the AICPA, IIA (national), ISACA (national), IMA, ACFE (national), Houston Chapter of the ACFE, and the IIC.
Mr. Vanek has been involved with many charities. Some of these charities include the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana, Junior Achievement and the Watercolor Art Society-Houston. He is currently a ministry volunteer (Small Group Leader) at Grace Fellowship United Methodist Church in Katy, Texas, and is a former deacon of the Houston Christian United People's Church (Houston, Texas), and the former Treasurer and Associate Pastor of the Light of the World Church (Houston, Texas).

Mr. Tucker has over twenty-eight years of financial, investment, and employee benefits experience including establishing, owning, operating, and assisting hundreds of companies in various industries as well as serving on several boards. In the financial sector he has been a founder of a Broker Dealer, founder of a Registered Investment Advisory firm, and organizer for a Bank.
Mr. Tucker was a member of the KPMG national actuarial leadership group and served on several national committees at Mercer. His consulting has included asset/liability modeling, and selecting and reviewing performance of investment managers. He has provided consulting to Entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 companies. He has been involved with both the private and public equity markets. He has worked with companies of all sizes, governmental and not for profit organizations. He has provided advice to pension plans, endowments, and foundations.
His consulting responsibilities have included special situations regarding plan design of qualified retirement plans and nonqualified retirement plans for executives and board of directors. He also provides consultation regarding executive compensation, mergers, spin-offs, acquisitions, benefit improvements, and early retirement windows. He has been a CFO for several companies. He has assisted companies with capital formation and structure as well as many other finance and investment banking areas.
Mr. Tucker has been a speaker for a number of professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries and the TSCPA. He was a member of the Houston Investors' Association Board and has been involved with many charities. Some of these charities include Junior Achievement, United Way, Houston Ballet, and Lighthouse Cooking Team Foundation. He has taught classes at and mentors students with the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation College of Business Administration University of Houston and volunteers as a tutor for high school students in mathematics. He has been involved from inception and has been a mentor for over 15 years with the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston which has been ranked #1 in the nation for undergraduate entrepreneurship programs in the US.
Mr. Tucker received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting with a minor in Business Statistics from Baylor University where he was on the Dean's Distinguished Honors List. He is a CPA licensed in Texas, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, and Enrolled Actuary licensed with the IRS. He is affiliated with an investment bank and has the series 7, 24, 27, 28, 66 and 79 security registrations.
